MatSearch collects no personal data. No account is needed, no email is required, your identity is not known to us.
The following is stored only on your device in a local SQLite database; it never reaches our servers:
Uninstalling the app deletes all of this.
The app sends requests to our backend to fetch crystal structure data from the Materials Project. The only information sent with each request:
Our Cloudflare infrastructure may log IP addresses for a short period (typically 24–72 hours) for DDoS protection and traffic analysis. This is Cloudflare's standard practice and is not personally processed.
The app has an optional "AI identification" feature. It runs only when you start it:
This content is processed by Google (Gemini API) and, as a fallback, Cloudflare (Workers AI). Photos are used only for that single identification request; they are not stored on our servers or used for any other purpose. The AI only identifies the material and writes a short description; all numeric/scientific data comes from the Materials Project. If you never use this feature, no photo or text is ever sent to these services.
Scientific data is sourced from Materials Project under the CC-BY 4.0 license. Materials Project's own privacy policy also applies.
When you use AI identification, the content you send is processed by Google and Cloudflare; those providers' own privacy policies also apply.
No ads. No analytics. No tracking. No cookies. No third-party SDKs.
The app is suitable for ages 13 and up.
This policy may be updated in the future (e.g. if premium features with accounts are added). Material changes will be announced in-app.
